Essential Vitamins for Hair Growth

The hair grows through three - four different stages on a continuous cycle. The hair on our head is going through each of these different stages simultaneously. Providing our hair with proper nutrition, oxygen, and moisture flow is important for hair growth and retention.
Taking care of the hair properly starts from the inside out. While it is important to be mindful of products we put on our head that will ultimately seep into our skin and affect our bodies chemistry, hormone levels, and ability to absorb nutrition - what we take in - internally is just as vital to our hairs growth and retention.
Let't look at the different types of vitamins essential to support hair growth.
Vitamin C:
Vitamin C helps to build the protein known as collagen is which is a highly important part of the hair structure. Vitamin C helps the body and hair to properly absorb iron - which keeps our hair healthy and strong.
Vitamin B:
Vitamin B refers to a group of 8 vitamins known as the B-complex. These vitamins can contribute to healthier hair growth and overall hair health by supporting red blood cell production, delivering oxygen and nutrients to hair follicles, and promoting cell rejuvenation.
Zinc:
Zinc deficiency changes the protein structure of the hair follicles which leads to a weakening of the structural integrity. This means new hair will not stay long enough to get strong and grow - lack of zinc will cause new hairs to fall out prematurely resulting in hair thinning.
Iron:
Iron deficiency can contribute to hair loss by disrupting the production of hemoglobin, which carries oxygen to the hair follicles, and by affecting enzymes involved in hair growth. While hair loss is sometimes due to iron deficiency - it is also often reversible with treatment.
Vitamin D:
Vitamin D is a vital nutrient for hair growth and retention. This vitamin builds our immunity keeps our bones and skin healthy, stimulates cell growth and helps to promote the growth of new hair follicles.
